Oncology Clinical Pharmacist

Summary: Provides pharmaceutical care according to professional standards and practices and complies with all Federal and State regulations in the practice of Pharmacy. Oncology clinical pharmacy services to include direct patient care at Virtua Samson Cancer Center. Clinical oversight includes other system infusion rooms, in addition to supporting inpatient chemotherapy needs from a clinical perspective. Responsible for oncology therapy and treatment plan review, infusion guidelines and protocol standardization. Participation in system-wide committees such as Infusion Task Force, Oncology Practice Council. Position Responsibilities: Evaluates medication prescribing patterns and identifies opportunities for improving drug therapy. Coordinate Drug Use Evaluation, Adverse drug Reaction Reporting activities. Provide education to patients/families, and other health care practitioners. Participate in medication safety initiatives in collaboration with the Pharmacy administration. Participates in patient rounds with appropriate individuals including physicians, nurses and other health care providers. Works within key sub-specialty areas (ex. Oncology, Infusion task force) to develop and maintain specific routine monitoring criteria for these patients. Represents the Pharmacy Dept. in system wide and divisional committees as needed. Required Education: Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy with Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or BS and comparable clinical experience. PGY-2 in Oncology preferred Training/Certifications/Licensure: Active New Jersey pharmacy license.
